Richmond Foundation’s Training Institute is committed to advancing knowledge, skills, and best practices in the field of mental health, supporting individuals, communities, and organisations in fostering wellbeing and resilience. Through a comprehensive range of educational programmes and workshops, practical tools, professional development opportunities, and awareness initiatives, the Institute aims to empower people at every level to understand, address, and prevent mental health challenges. By promoting evidence-based approaches, encouraging inclusive dialogue, and nurturing a culture of empathy and support, the Institute seeks to contribute to a society that is not only informed and compassionate but also proactive in creating environments where mental health is prioritised and safeguarded.
Accreditations
In 2019, Richmond Foundation achieved accreditation from the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA) as a recognised further and higher education institution (License number: 2019-011). This accreditation represents a significant milestone, underscoring our commitment to maintaining rigorous educational standards and delivering programmes that meet both national and international benchmarks of excellence. It affirms the Institute’s position as a leading provider of professional training in mental health, offering recognised qualifications that enhance professional development and contribute to the broader goal of promoting mental wellbeing across society.
In addition to national recognition, the Institute has established strategic international partnerships to strengthen its training portfolio. As an Authorised Training Centre (ATC) with the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) in England, the Institute delivers Safety Intervention (SI) and Verbal Intervention (VI) training. Furthermore, through its collaboration with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia, it provides MHFA training programmes locally. These affiliations ensure that all training is evidence-based, of the highest quality, and equips professionals and individuals with the skills necessary to support mental health across diverse contexts.
Research and Evaluation
Research On COVID-19 - How It Has Affected Our Mental Health
The COVID-19 pandemic made many of us more concerned about staying safe and keeping our livelihoods. With social distancing, school closures, job losses, and lockdowns, people from all walks of life faced big disruptions, leading to a lot of anxiety and worry about what is next. Beyond the fear of getting sick, the pandemic also caused a rise in mental health challenges in our communities. And while the physical effects have all but passed, the impact on mental health is expected to last much longer. That is why it is so important for us to understand what people have gone through to keep a close eye on how mental wellbeing changes and respond in the best way possible. That is why Richmond Foundation decided to survey the nation’s mental health during these unprecedented times. We partnered with research company Esprimi to carry out a series of public sentiment surveys and assess the toll that the pandemic took on the national population’s mental wellbeing. By gaining these insights, we have been able to better support everyone’s mental health through these tough times and beyond. Richmond Foundation was provided EU funds to carry out the research. This was done through the European Social Fund as part of the project ESF 02.049.
